@chunuonsee16 : I’ve been trying to find the words, but there aren’t any that say enough. Enough. Things are not ok and they haven’t been for a long time. I’m saddened and angry about the amount of outright disrespect for human lives I’ve seen. I’m tired of seeing the same stories play out in the news followed by ridiculous justifications and excuses. There are no justifications, no excuses, about why one human being should be treated as less than another because of race, appearance, background, or gender. It takes ZERO effort to treat others with basic human compassion, decency, & kindness. It takes little effort to connect; to check yourself; to call out your friends & family; to start a conversation. So this is me, mixed race & privileged in many ways, asking you to become aware and to be the change. We are personally responsible for becoming more ethical than the society we grew up in. #BlackLivesMatter doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter. It may be easy for someone to think #blacklivesmatter doesn’t concern them because they’re not black but believe me when I say it concerns everyone. Our societies are systems and systematic racism applies to everyone. Regardless of the color of our skin, our family backgrounds, who we love, what we’re capable of, our culture, our heritage, or where we are, we are all connected. Move away from differences and towards connectedness. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
